Caribbean Overview

Water Music Sailing

Local Racing Boat called a Yolla, Martinique

Dockwise, worldwide boat transportation. The transportation deck is flooded, the boats are floated on, secured on cradles by divers, then the ship is deballasted.

French Bread cooked while you wait. The top rows are uncooked Pomme Cannelle, which means apple and looks like a fruit that grows in the tropics.

Mt. Pele, Martinique. This volcano erupted in 1902 and killed all but one of 30,000 people in St. Pierre. It was then the capitol city and considered the Paris of the Caribbean.

Sunset Beach, St. Martin. A beach, with bar, where people congregate to watch the afternoon jets come and go. Quite spectacular!

Buck Island, St. Croix. Yes, this was a MAGIC spot.

Dolphin Escort in St. Croix,USVI’s.

Iguanas, St. Thomas, USVI’s.

Bicycling in Anagada, BVI’s. We took our snorkeling gear to what was reported the best beach on the island. It was an 11 mile trip, most over unpaved roads.

Anagada, BVI’s. Most of the houses in the Caribbean are colorfully painted.

The Baths, Virgin Gorda, BVI’s. An area of large granite boulders where people come to swim and walk the path that weaves between the boulders, often in the water.

The Baths, BVI’s.

Helicopter Landing on Luxury Yacht. BVI’s.

Stop Sign, St. John, USVI’s. This sign was on the street next to a church. You can not see the one which says “Thou shalt not park” because a car is parked in front of it!

David driving WM in a rainsquall. Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Dinghy raised on the side of WM for the night. This helps prevent theft as well as keeping the bottom from fouling.

Lifeguard Stand, Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Garden Flower, Vieques, Puerto Rico.

Water Music in Culebrita, Puerto Rico. This spot was one of our favorite anchorages in the Caribbean, but the weather had to be settled.

Provisioning in Puerto Rico. We rented a car and did a major shop to start the provisioning for the passage to the USA. The costs in Puerto Rico were considerably less than in the other Virgin Islands.

Love the 2hr birthing limit! Would have thought that a cesar would have been more appropriate for violators than being towed - or did they mean toed?

Great photos. Very very jealous!
