Enjoying the Bahamas 2008

We have been fortunate of late to have spent quite a bit of time “buddy boating” with other cruising friends. Many of the photos you will see in this blog posting were not taken by Deborah. This has allowed us to give you a slightly different perspective on the many high points of the past 6 weeks traveling through the Bahamas. It’s been a lot of fun!

Water Music on anchor in Key Biscayne waiting for a weather window to cross the Gulf Stream. The Miami Skyline provides a spectacular back drop.

Passaging to the Bahamas on a beautiful sunny day.

Iguanas rush onto the beach to greet boaters at the Allen’s Cay anchorage in the Exuma islands. Unfortunately local tour boats stop here and feed them.

This picture was taken from our dinghy. Deb wasn’t game to step ashore as the feeding has made them a little aggressive and unpredictable.

Don’t mess with this one!

Australia Day was celebrated with a walk on a beautiful beach on Stocking Island, Great Exuma, which so reminds us of Perth.

Lunch at a beach café included a tasty snapper.

Happy hour with friends at a small beach resort on Long Island.

Water Music enjoying the conditions between Long Island and Conception Island.

It doesn’t get much gentler than this!

Our friends Anne and Steve on arrival at Conception. This Wahoo measuring 55inches and weighing over 50 lbs, was the only bite of the day, despite the four other boats in our mini flotilla all trolling a line.

It was also their first major catch. After giving a generous portion to each of the other 4 boats to prepare differently, they filled their freezer. The buffet that evening on board one of the other catamarans was a feast!

The shallow lagoon on Conception Island, were we went looking for Green Turtles. Unfortunately they were so timid and such quick underwater swimmers we have no pix.

On our way to a reef to do some snorkeling.

One of the best mood photos we have of Water Music under sail.
