We are now on our way South from Maine
A foggy morning in Tenants Harbor, Maine. Cold and damp, but it has a special beauty of it's own.
The fog begins to clear in the harbor but you can see the bank of fog in the distance, offshore.
As the wind changes direction and blows off the cold water the fog rolls in once more.
A typical inland waterway near Tenants Creek. Glacial moraines have sealed off the connection to the sea.
A piece of the famous Maine granite becomes a resting place for this piece of sculpture.
Just about everyone in Maine is a Lobsterman/woman. Such a high density of pots makes sailing and particularly motoring quite tricky at times!
A street market in Portland. The chrysanthemums are a sure sign of fall.
The old customs dock in Salem, famous for its witches and in the19th century the 5th biggest seaport in the US. From here sailing ships traded all over the world.
Approaching downtown Boston and our reserved mooring.
Early morning sunlight reflecting off the buildings.
Departure from Boston after 3 days in the big city! Clouds to the NW may bring some wind?
Provincetown. The very spot where the Pilgrim Fathers first set foot in the new world in 1620.
The harbor seen from the tower. Now a popular summer destination with high speed ferry connections to Boston. Water Music can be seen at anchor, second boat from the top right.
Descending the 236ft granite tower erected in 1910 to commemorate the landing. The use of ramps and steps makes it user friendly.
Provincetown is also home to many gay and lesbian couples as Massachusetts is the only state in the US to have legalized same sex marriage. Many artists have also discovered this remote part of Cape Cod as the sculpture in a front garden just off Main Street will attest.
